The Exhibition:

We are proud to announce the opening of a photography exhibition at Face Bangkok Restaurant. The exhibition will be featuring a series of photos entitled Urban Lines, a project shot solely by Bangkok-based photographer, Marc Schultz.

The Urban Lines project is a collection of unique photographs captured in Bangkok which exhibit elements of a developing Asian city in transition.

These retrospective pictures portray details of a growing urban landscape in which industrializing interests struggle to modernize, resulting in a sacrifice of some of the city’s intrinsic beauty from its past.

In the face of this evolution, these images portray vignettes of life from within the few original enclaves of the city that still remain and provide a glimpse into the historical character of Bangkok as an evolving mecca.

In capturing these images, every shot was taken hand-held using a fisheye lens and in only available light. The distorted angles created by the optics produce a unique perspective for the viewer, designed to add to the visual appeal of the imagery.

The Photographer:

Marc Schultz is a Bangkok-based photographer who is passionate about capturing scenes from behind the lens of customary Thai life. He has travelled extensively throughout Thailand and Asia, with cameras in hand, and has spent more than a year already capturing imagery for the Urban Lines project.

When not documenting the idyllic traditional life of both rural and urban Thailand, Marc also does commercial photography work in the fields of journalism, advertising, product, corporate, food, hotel and architectural interior photography. His professional work can be seen online at www.marcschultz.com

The Venue:

Face Bangkok has established itself as one of Bangkok’s leading dinning venues, where you can enjoy three of Asia’s most popular cuisines, Thai, Japanese and North Indian cuisine, or just relax in it’s stunning bar surround by an exotic and chic environment, accented with South East Asian antiques and artifacts.
Structurally we referred to the classical Thai extended family house, and the importance of the “klong” which by tradition was the “road” access to the Thai house. There was also an emphasis on the South Asian use of many changes of floor levels. www.facebars.com
