Q Bar Bangkok Presents

December 17th 2011
12 is a very significant number. The number twelve is often used as a sales unit in trade, and is often referred to as a DOZEN. There are twenty-four hours in a day in all, with twelve hours for a half a day. A new day is considered to start with the stroke of midnight. The Chinese use a 12 years cycle for time-reckoning called Earthly Branches. There are 12 signs in the in the Western and The Chinese Zodiac and The Chinese consider the passing of 12 to be a rebirth. There are 12 stars representing the countries in the European Union. Alcoholics take 12 steps to recovery…OK maybe a bad example but in the end 12 years as a Bangkok Nightclub is beyond anyone’s expectations even our own.
Well after 12 incredible years of Q bar as you have known it, it is time for our “rebirth”. Q Bar is “dead” and we make way for a brand new beginning. We have undergone countless changes over the years from our humble beginnings as a small lounge tucked away on a back corner of a then quite soi 11 to becoming the center of Bangkok’s Nightlife bringing in countless talent from around the world of music and people from all walks of life from all parts of the globe. We invite you to experience the “NEW” Q Bar. Our Complete rebirth and transformation into what we affectionately call Q Bar 2.0. Complete with an all new “User interface” as we open the ‘Q Zoo’ , all new ‘VIP Lounge’, and completely redesigned Dance Club featuring a new Bar and DJ Booth. Now unlike never before the Q Bar experience is going to once again completely change the Bangkok nightlife scene!
Did you know in American and European football the number 12 is a symbolic reference to the fans because of the support they give to the 11 players on the field? We ask for your support as we announce “THE DIRTY DOZEN”!
Who or what is a Dirty Dozen you may ask? It is a 1967 film directed by Robert Aldrich and released by MGM. It featured an ensemble cast that was from entirely different backgrounds and forced them to become one cohesive unit. The unit consisted of Americans, Canadians, and British who had nothing to lose in a foreign country fighting for something they believed would change the course of history.
Looking back over nearly 12 thrilling and challenging years, owners David Jacobson and Andrew Clark will feel that they have gone a long way to realizing one of their principal goals at the inception of Q Bar: to create a truly international-class venue in Bangkok. Q Bar has been called by some, one of the world’s best bars and nightclubs and they have done that with the help of many people from different backgrounds American, Canadian, European, Asian and the world.
With all that being said lets skip to the best part as we invite all of you to join us for our Dirty Dozen Party celebrating 12 years of Q Bar with Dirty Martinis and a lot of filthy fun on December 17 as we celebrate our very special 12th Anniversary and we hope to see you all there!! Come by Q Bar between now and Dec 16 and you might get a “Draft Letter” from the President David or Vice President Andrew asking you to report for duty from 9-11PM for an early invasion of our new bar!

February 23-26, 2012
Bangkok Community Theatre presents Dan Goggins’ hilarious musical comedy “Nunsense” at The British Club late February 2012
“Nunsense” is a delightful romp of a musical about five nuns who are putting on a fund-raising concert. It seems that the convent cook, Sister Julia-Child of God, accidentally poisoned fifty-two fellow sisters with a bad batch of vichyssoise, and these five are trying to raise money to bury the remaining sisters who are temporarily stowed in the freezer! “Nunsense” is a fast-paced hilarious musical comedy that won 4 outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Musical during its 10-year run in New York.
“Nunsense” will be performed in English at The British Club, Silom Soi 18, Bangkok with three evening performances at 8pm on Thursday, February 23rd; Friday February 24th and Saturday, February 25th; plus two matinee performances at 3pm on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday February 26th, 2012.
Tickets at B800 each will be available to the general public from January 20th through BCT by phone or email (087-936-3798 and bctnunsense@gmail.com) and also at The Neilson Hays Library Café on Suriwonge Road. Tickets may be purchased at the café from 9am to 6pm, every day except Monday. British Club Members may also sign for tickets at the club.
Tickets are for the performance alone; however audience members are encouraged to make a night of it and pre-book the sumptuous pre-dinner buffet (B400 per person) that the British Club will also offer downstairs before the show. For dinner reservations, please e-mail info@britishclubbangkok.org or 02-234-0247. An a la carte menu and cash bar will also be available nightly. Note: limited parking will be available for this event at the British Club and nearby venues. Please visit BCT’s website for more details.
This madcap musical full of hysterical nun puns will be enjoyed by people of all ages and faiths; we recommend it for adults and students aged 10+. But don’t delay! Seating is limited, so book early to ensure a heavenly good time! For more information, please visit the BCT website at www.bct-th.org.
